Pension Credit is a vital benefit that can significantly boost your income if you’re of pension age and on a low income.

Depending on your situation - including factors such as disability, caring responsibilities, children, and savings - you could have received up to £551.26 per week if you’re single, or up to £795.19 per week if you have a partner.

Coventry Citizens Advice urges all residents to check if they qualify, as many people are missing out on this financial assistance.

Don’t delay - schedule a free and confidential welfare benefits check with Coventry Citizens Advice today and find out what you can claim!

Increase in Income:
Pension Credit tops up your weekly income to a minimum amount. If you’re single, your income will be topped up to at least £218.15 per week, and for couples, it increases to £332.95.

Additional Benefits
Receiving Pension Credit can make you eligible for other financial help, such as:
  • Housing Benefit to help with rent or support for mortgage interest if you own the property you live in,
  • Council Tax Reduction,
  • Cold Weather Payments,
  • Free NHS prescriptions, and help with NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments,
  • If you're over 75, you may also qualify for a free TV licence,
  • Discount on your annual water bill,
  • Social tariffs for basic broadband,
  • Potential free home insulation,
  • Help with heating costs,
  • Extra support for carers and disabilities.
  • Pension Credit is available to people of pension age who are on a low income. Even if you have savings or own your home, you may still qualify, so it’s important to check. Here’s a brief overview of the eligibility criteria:

    Age Requirement:
  • You must have reached State Pension age. This is currently 66, but you can check the exact age on the government website.
  • If you're a couple, both of you need to have reached the State Pension age to qualify, or if one partner is under pension age, they must already be claiming benefits such as Universal Credit.

    Savings and Investments:
  • There is no strict savings limit, but if you have savings or investments over £10,000, it can affect the amount of Pension Credit you receive.
  • Savings Credit: If you reached State Pension age before April 6, 2016, and have some savings or a higher income, you might be eligible for extra support. This could provide up to £15.94 a week for single people or £17.84 for couples.
  • Coventry Citizens Advice is here to help you determine whether you are eligible. Even if you think your income or savings might be too high, it’s worth getting in touch, as many people who qualify don’t realise they are eligible.

Coventry Citizens Advice can help you find out whether you qualify for Pension Credit or if there are any other ways to maximise your income through a free and confidential check. Get in touch with us today!
