Pension Credit is available to people of pension age who are on a low income. Even if you have savings or own your home, you may still qualify, so it’s important to check. Here’s a brief overview of the eligibility criteria:
Age Requirement:
You must have reached State Pension age. This is currently 66, but you can check the exact age on the government website.
If you're a couple, both of you need to have reached the State Pension age to qualify, or if one partner is under pension age, they must already be claiming benefits such as Universal Credit.
Savings and Investments: There is no strict savings limit, but if you have savings or investments over £10,000, it can affect the amount of Pension Credit you receive.
Savings Credit: If you reached State Pension age before April 6, 2016, and have some savings or a higher income, you might be eligible for extra support. This could provide up to £15.94 a week for single people or £17.84 for couples.
