Citizens Advice today launched its new Scams Action project offering support to those who feel vulnerable to online scams. Funded through a donation from Martin Lewis, of ‘moneysavingexpert’ fame, this project will specifically support those hit by online scams.
If you think that you have found an online scam, have been scammed online or know of someone who’s been scammed online you can:
- Call the help line on 0300 330 3003 (you will be routed to a consumer service delivery centre);
- Chat online with a trained adviser by visiting https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/scams/get-help-with-online-scams/ or
- Visit https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/scams/check-if-something-might-be-a-scam/ to explore how to help yourself (if you need additional support you will be directed to you nearest local Citizens Advice).
Online scams are a growing concern in the UK yet, according to Citizens Advice research, almost 45% of those surveyed had taken no action to protect themselves against scams in the last 12 months, and 65% had taken no action to protect friends or family.
Don’t let online scammers ruin your life. Get protected. Get connected.
